Atrani’s houses cascade down the cliff edges with an intricate small alleyways, flights of steps and passageways linking up the various parts of the town.

Atrani is also known as Amalfi’s village of churches and includes the Franciscan Monastery of Santa Rosalia, the Church of St Maria del Bando, the Church of St Salvatore de Birceto, the Chapel of St Gertrude, the Church of St Maria Immacolata, the Church of the Carmine and the Church of St Michele.

The town is known for its black sandy beaches and are located few steps from the town centre via a stone staircases and the beaches tend to be quieter than its neighbouring villages and towns.  Amalfi, Positano and Ravello are all a short distance away and if you travel north you can also visit the quaint fishing village at Cetara,  Minori and Maiori.  Owing to its small size you can easily explore the village within a couple of hours.   The most popular bases in the area are Amalfi and Positano.
